R.D. Longmeier
Biography
About the Author:
R.D. Longmeier was born in 1947 in the farm and ranch country of Eastern Washington. During his younger years he followed the wheat harvests from Texas, north to the Dakotas, and out to the Golden Triangle of Montana.
He worked as a ranch hand and roustabout in the Rocky Mountain states and Pacific Northwest, and in the silver mines of Northern Idaho. In 1969 Longmeier enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam and Japan.
Early on, he learned creative writing skills at Wenatchee Valley College. He completed course work at Texas Tech University and Washington State University.
Career paths throughout his life have led him in two or three different directions, which eventually put him on the road as a long haul truck driver, an occupation he thoroughly enjoys.
He reflects back on a life of joy and peril. He writes and narrates with resounding clarity and animation, reminding the listener of America's natural beauty, our heroes, our great heritage, and all that freedom stands for.
